Before 1962 the diagnosis of the fetal situation was very difficult. The amnioscopy, performed by Saling 1962 (1, 2, 3) uses the color of the amniotic fluid - observed throught the cervix and the amnion with a simple konic tube - for the diagnosis of the post-maturity, diagnosis of the beginning of the placental insufficiency, control of rh-constellation. With the amnioscopy there is no risk of an artificial ruptures of the membrane or the premilary start of the labor.
