Summary
The diagnostic evaluation of the gastric mucosa, especially in cases of atrophic gastritis or giant rugae, should always be done in relation to the distention of the gastric wall by air. A pressure stabilizer connected with a gastroscope was designed to control the intragastric pressure. It is a portable compact set, which can control the pressure from 5 to 25 cm H2O, fairly acurrately. Experience shows enough reliability in the diagnosis of atrophic gastritis and giant rugae.
