Abstract

Two flavonoidal principles were isolated from the alcoholic extract of Urospermum picroides (Compositae). The first material, a yellow microcrystalline prismatic needles, m. p. 236–238° C (dec.) is a flavonol glycoside with an aglycone found to be identical with quercetin and a sugar identified as galactose; the identity of this glycoside was proved to be quercetin 3–D–galactoside. The second flavonoid, a yellow needles, m. p. 313–315° C, pentaacetyl derivative m. p. 191–193° C, was found to be identical with quercetin.
