BIOLOGICAL CONVERSIONS OF AGROCLAVINE AND ELYMOCLAVINE
Publication History
Publication Date:
15 January 2009 (online)
Summary
Various mycelial preparations of Claviceps species and strains capable of alkaloid production in saprophytic culture were found to convert agroclavine to elymoclavine under the experimental conditions utilized. Claviceps species and strains incapable of saprophytic alkaloid production did not effect the conversion. Pénicillium viridicalum hydroxylated added agroclavine and elymoclavine in the C8–position, producing setoclavine–isosetoclavine and penniclavine–isopenniclavine, respectively.
