Röntgenuntersuchungen an trepanierten Schädeln des Neolithikums

Zusammenfassung

Die historischen Kenntnisse der prähistorischen Schädeltrepanationen wurden einleitend dargestellt. Brocas Theorie der Trep. chir. bzw. posthume wird eingehend erörtert und auf die Schwierigkeit der Diagnostik hingewiesen. Grenzen und Möglichkeiten der Röntgenmethode werden an Hand von drei prähistorischen und einer Impressionsfraktur diskutiert. Ein definitives Urteil über die Trep. chir. bzw. posthume ist unter Berücksichtigung aller Kriterien nur begrenzt möglich.

Summary

The article is introduced with an account of prehistoric skull trephining. Broca's theory concerning surgical or posthumous trephining is examined in detail and the difficulty of differentiation is pointed out. The limitations and possibilities of radiological methods are discussed on the basis of the examination of three pre-historic skulls and one depressed fracture. Even after consideration of all the evidence the judgement as between surgical and posthumous trephining must remain reserved.

Exposition des connaissances humaines de la trépanation du crâne dans la préhistoire. La théorie de Broca de la trépanation chirurgicale ou postume est exposée en détails et l'auteur souligne les difficultés du diagnostic. Les possibilités et les limites de la méthode radiologique sont exposées par trois cas de fractures préhistoriques et par une fracture par impression. Il n'est que partiellement possible de se prononcer de façon définitive sur la trépanation chirurgicale ou postume si l'on tient compte de tous les facteurs.

Se comentan los conocimientos históricos de trepanaciones prehistóricas de cráneos. La teoría de Broca de la trepanación quirúrgica y póstuma se detalla, señalándose las dificultades del diagnóstico. Se discuten los límites y posibilidades del método radiológico en base a 3 fracturas prehistóricas y 1 fractura por impresión. Solamente en forma limitada puede darse un juicio definitivo acerca de la trepanación quirúrgica póstuma y teniendo en cuenta todos los criterios.
