Mathilde Simonnot et al. Endoscopic resection of early esophageal tumors in patients with cirrhosis or portal hypertension: a multicenter observational study

In this retrospective multicenter study in patients (n = 112) with cirrhosis or portal hypertension, esophageal neoplasias (n = 134) were treated with endoscopic resection, including endoscopic submucosal dissection in 77 % of cases. Rates of complete macroscopic resection, en bloc resection, and curative resection were 92 %, 86 %, and 63 %, respectively, and adverse events included 3 perforations and 8 delayed bleedings. These findings show that patients with esophageal neoplasia and cirrhosis or portal hypertension should be managed in expert centers.
