Abstract Introduction: Laryngeal cancers are common in clinical practice and are often mistreated, leading to a bad outcome. The objective of our study was to raise awareness to the high incidence of laryngeal cancers and to the importance of correct treatment.

Material and Method A four year retrospective study (2014-2018) was performed on all admitted patients with laryngeal cancers regarding treatment procedures. A total of 1028 patients were included in the study, all diagnosed with laryngeal cancer, regardless of histopathological type and localization. The treatment method was chosen according to TNM staging and histopathological result.

Results Out of all cases, 178 total laryngectomies were performed, for patients with stage III laryngeal cancers. Laser CO2 cordectomies were performed on 254 patients, with stage I and II laryngeal glotic cancer, 596 suspended microlaryngoscopies for patients with stage I to IV laryngeal cancer.

Conclusions Treatment approach in the ENT Clinic of Timisoara varies a lot according to TNM staging and histopathological result. Appropriate treatment methods are necessary to achieve a positive outcome. Total laryngectomies, laser CO2 surgery as well as microscopic surgery are performed on a routine basis.
