Introduction eHealth denotes the use of electronic tools in healthcare to improve processes and connect patients and health care personnel. We are developing an eHealth platform for patients on home parenteral nutrition (HPN), including video consultations, instructions (e.g. for patient education), and patient support groups. In addition, this platform will serve as a central repository for all treatment-related data for patients and medical staff involved in their care.

Objectives The primary objective is to improve HPN patients’ quality of life by increasing patient satisfaction, autonomy, and confidence. Secondary objectives include preventing complication rates (infections, catheter occlusions, non-elective hospitalizations) by optimizing the care of HPN patients and simplifying logistics.

Methods We are conducting a survey on the attitudes and expectations of HPN patients towards eHealth. In addition, we are planning a study comparing usual care follow-up visits and video conferences with HPN patients.

Results Results are not available at the time of this abstract submission. At Nutrition 2021, we can present the project and the complete survey results.

Conclusion eHealth has great potential for the complex care and management of HPN patients. We can present further conclusions at Nutrition 2021 based on the survey results.
