ZUSAMMENFASSUNG

Die arterielle Hypertonie betrifft etwa jeden dritten Menschen. Sie stellt einen der Hauptfaktoren kardiovaskulärer Morbidität und Mortalität dar. Neben der sehr häufigen multifaktoriellen und polygenen primären oder essenziellen Hypertonie existieren verschiedene Ursachen, welche teilweise kausale Behandlungsansätze erlauben und somit eine große prognostische Relevanz besitzen. Das pathophysiologische Verständnis und die Kenntnis möglicher Differenzialdiagnosen sind für einen rationellen Einsatz der Diagnostik unerlässlich. Der vorliegende Artikel fasst diese zusammen und stellt mögliche Vorgehensweisen zur Bewertung verschiedener Formen der sekundären Hypertonie dar.
