Die neurodegenerative Parkinsonerkrankung betrifft vor allem Menschen fortgeschrittenen Alters und mittlerweile knapp 400 000 Menschen in Deutschland. Um die motorischen Symptome von Parkinson zu verbessern, nutzen viele Patienten Therapieangebote. Durch den erkrankungsbedingten Motivationsmangel und starke Erschöpfung fällt es vielen Patienten aber schwer, bei diesen Angeboten längerfristig am Ball zu bleiben. Um die Therapie zu unterstützen, wurde ein Serious-Game-Konzept für die Parkinson-Therapie mithilfe der Design-Thinking-Methode entwickelt. Durch Design Thinking werden nutzerzentrierte Lösungen durch eine systematisierten Kreativprozess entwickelt. Das entstandene Spiel PARKinson ist ein kompetitives Serious Game für 2 Spieler, was durch die Körperbewegungen der Spieler gesteuert wird. Die Bewegungen werden durch kamerabasiertes Bodytracking mithilfe der Azure Kinect erfasst und durch soziales Spielen und den Wettbewerbsgedanken soll die Motivation der Spieler gesteigert und langfristig erhalten werden. Die Ergebnisse dieser Arbeit zeigen, dass eine digitale, spielerische Bewegungstherapie eine geeignete Ergänzung für die Parkinson-Therapie darstellen kann.
ABSTRACT
Parkinson’s disease – a neurodegenerative disorder – mainly affects people of advanced age and now affects almost 400000 people in Germany. To improve the motor symptoms of Parkinson’s, many patients take advantage of therapy offers. However, due to the disease-related lack of motivation and severe exhaustion, many patients find it difficult to stay motivated with these offers in the long term. To support the therapy, a serious game concept for Parkinson’s therapy was developed with the help of the design thinking method. Design thinking develops user-centered solutions through a systematized creative process. The resulting game PARKinson is a competitive serious game for two players, which is controlled by the body movements of the players. The movements are recorded by camera-based body tracking with the help of the Azure Kinect and the motivation of the players is to be increased and maintained in the long term through social play and the idea of competition. The results of this work show that digital, playful movement therapy can be a suitable addition to Parkinson’s therapy.
