Foreword Endoscopy – Issue 1
Dear readers, authors, and friends of Endoscopy,
On behalf of the Endoscopy Editorial Team, I would like to wish you all a very happy new year!
First and foremost, I would like to thank all the Co-Editors for their continued hard work this year. In 2023, we were delighted to welcome Marianne Arvanitakis (Belgium) as a Co-Editor to our Editorial Team, as well as three new Junior Co-Editors, Michiel Bronswijk (Belgium), Ana Carbajo (Spain) and Tiago Cúrdia Gonçalves (Portugal).
As some of you may know, 2023 has been a challenging year for me personally due to health issues. During my leave of absence, the whole team pulled together magnificently, and I would like to extend a special thanks to Mario Dinis-Ribeiro and Heiko Pohl for their combined efforts in keeping the journal on track. I am now back, in good health, and very happy to be reunited with the Editorial Team.
Once again, the Impact Factor has remained strong at 9.3, reflecting the high quality of submissions, the professionalism and excellence of the entire editorial team, and the appreciation of readers and authors.
Endoscopy is also doing well across its various social media channels. If you are active on social media and are not already following us on our new LinkedIn page at @Endoscopy Journal, on Twitter/X at @endoscopyjrnl, and on Facebook at @Endoscopy, I encourage you to do so.
The Editorial Team shares the concerns of the ecological impact of our endoscopy practice, which has been highlighted by the ESGE and other societies over the past two years. Going forward, we encourage authors to also include the environmental perspective in their research and publications. We will be highlighting papers that address environmental concerns of our practice by a “green stamp”, starting in 2024.
Will you be attending ESGE Days 2024 in Berlin (25–27 April 2024)? The Endoscopy Editorial Team is very much looking forward to meeting face-to-face, both Co-Editors and Editorial Board. We will also take the opportunity to meet with our endoscopy community in Berlin and we will let you know in due course when and where in one of our upcoming e-newsletters.
Our best wishes go out to you as fellow endoscopists and healthcare professionals, and to your families. May you and yours have a prosperous and healthy year.
Best wishes.
Peter D. Siersema
