Significance

Transition-metal-catalyzed amination of aryl halides has recently become the most important industrial method of the preparation of substituted anilines. The use of iron catalysis is always very advantageous due to the low cost and toxicity of this metal. This publication describes the first Fe-catalyzed arylation of anilines. It is an important contribution to the rapidly growing field of iron catalysis in synthetic organic chemistry.
