Significance
Theopederin D was isolated from a marine sponge of the genus Theonella. It exhibits a range of biological properties including immunosuppressive and antiviral activity as well as a 2 nM IC50 value against murine P388 leukemia cells. Noteworthy in the synthesis is the trioxadecalin formation (F → G) by an electron-transfer-initiated cyclization (ETIC).
