Abstract

Three methods for the isolation of scilladienolides are proposed. The first involves the extraction of total constituents of the bulbs, followed by preferential separation of the cardioactice glycosides from the extract; the second depends on direct selective extraction of the glycosides from the plant material; the third makes use of column chromatography. The last method gave the most promising results.
