Significance

Arylboronic derivatives are of great importance in modern organic synthesis. This direct conversion of aryl halides into boronic esters is a simple and convenient method allowing an easy preparation of a variety of pinacol boronates. It utilizes an inexpensive CuBr/n-Bu3P catalytic system which is efficient even for electron-rich aryl bromides.
