Significance

The first solid-phase total synthesis of the S1 serine protease inhibitor symplocamide A (Sym A), a 3-amino-6-hydroxy-2-piperidone (Ahp) containing cyclic depsipeptide, was achieved from a NovaPEG resin with use of a SPPS protocol.
