Alex Ghanouni et al. Patients’ experience of colonoscopy in the English Bowel Cancer Screening Programme

This population-based survey study assessed patients’ experience of colonoscopy following a positive fecal occult blood test as part of the English Bowel Cancer Screening Programme. This is the largest study on the topic to date, and confirms previous studies that were similar and smaller. Most patients were satisfied, but approximately 20% of patients felt that the procedure was more uncomfortable than expected, suggesting a need to clarify expectations regarding possible discomfort.
