Borylation of Alkynes with MgO-Supported CuO or Pt Nanoparticles

Significance

Copper oxide nanoparticles supported on magnesia (CuO/MgO, 1.85 wt% of Cu) catalyzed the borylation of alkynes 1 with bis(pinacolato)diborane (2) to afford the corresponding monoborylated alkenes 3 (6 examples). When platinum nanoparticles supported on magnesia (Pt/MgO, 1.37 wt% of Pt) were used as catalyst, diborylation proceeded to give the corresponding alkenes 4 (6 examples).
