Significance
Platinum nanowires (Pt NWs) catalyzed the hydrogenation of nitro compounds 1 in methanol under H2 to give the corresponding amines 2 in up to 99% yield (eq. 1, 15 examples). Reductive amidation of 1 and various carboxylic acids 3 also took place in the presence of Pt NWs to give the corresponding amides 4 in up to 99% yield (eq. 2, 23 examples).
