What’s new at ESGE?

Introducing the EYE (ESGE Young Endoscopists) working group!

The EYE working group is the brainchild of Marianna Arvanitakis and Mário Dinis-Ribeiro. This initiative encourages the involvement of young endoscopists in the various committees and working groups within ESGE.

There was a great response to the call for applications to be involved in this group. In total, 63 applications were recieved, from which 12 (from 8 countries) candidates were chosen. Members were selected on the basis of their experience as well as their vision of how the EYE group could advance trainee and early-career physican representation and opportunities with ESGE.

Following on from this meeting, ideas about restructuring the ESGE grants system, the development of a trainee focused session during ESGE Days 2018 and the establishment of new networking facilities have been put into motion. Members of the EYE group have also been co-opted into existing ESGE committees such as the research, education and membership committees.

At the moment, the main focus of the EYE group activities has been directed towards the development a variety of sessions to be incorporated into the ESGE Days 2018 programme. These activites have been specifically developed with trainess and early career physicians in mind. In their very own dedicated area called the „EYE Zone”, ESGE Days 2018 participants will be able to attend and participate in a variety of interactive sessions The EYE Zone also features a coffee corner, and all ESGE Days 2018 delegates are warmly invited to stop by and relax!
