Bei der sonografischen Untersuchung der Schilddrüse (SD) fallen regelmäßig extrathyreoidale Nebenbefunde auf, die je nach ihrer klinischen Relevanz einer weiterführenden Abklärung bedürfen können. Von besonderer Bedeutung sind dabei unter anderem klinisch inapparente Nebenbefunde, die jedoch für den Patienten eine therapeutische Konsequenz haben, wie zum Beispiel Karotisstenosen oder Nebenschilddrüsenadenome. Es ist daher wichtig, zervikale Nebenbefunde zu erkennen und richtig einzuordnen, um so, wenn erforderlich, weiterführende Bildgebung zu veranlassen und andere Fachabteilungen einzubinden.
Abstract
Ultrasound examinations of the thyroid gland regularly reveal extrathyroidal findings which, depending on their relevance, may require further clarification. Of particular relevance are, for example, clinically inapparent findings, which however, have a therapeutic consequence for the patient, such as carotid stenosis or parathyroidadenomas.
It is therefore important to recognize and correctly classify cervical incidental findings in order to initiate further procedures, such as additional imaging and referral to other departments, if necessary.
