Abstract

[S–Methyl–14C] methionine gave good incorporation into pilocarpine in Pilocarpus pennatifolius when administered by the cut stem method. Controlled degradation showed all radioactivity to reside in the N–methyl group. No significant incorporation was obtained with sodium acetate, threonine or histidine.
