Abstract
A straightforward synthesis of 2-acetamido-2-deoxy-β-d-glucopyranosyl esters from unprotected GlcNAc oxazoline has been achieved under catalyst-free, microwave conditions.

In particular, the CH2 of the serine was found at δ = 62.4 ppm in the ¹³C NMR spectrum of 3b, as compared to δ = 68.8 ppm for compound 3a (see ref. 21b). Further confirmation of the structure was obtained by acetylation of the free hydroxyl of 3b in Ac2O-pyridine and by its unreactivity towards amines in the presence of PyBOP and DIPEA.
