Abstract

The extract of an Oriental medicine „bushi”, Aconitum carmichaeli roots, has been fractionated monitored by the hypertensive activity against the urethane anesthetized rat which has been found during our pharmacological survey of the crude drug to yield coryneine chloride, dopamine methochloride, as the active principle. The hypertensive activity of various preparations of the crude drug „bushi”, the roots of Aconitum spp., has been determined. Since coryneine chloride increases the rate and amplitude of the contractions of the isolated guinea pig right atria, it may contribute to the cardioactive effect of the crude drug.
