Abstract

The alkaloids in the leaves of Combretum micranthum G. Don, have been found to consist primarily of „Combretine”, which is a mixture of two stereoismers of the already known alkaloid, betonicine. Also present are small amounts of choline and of another alkaloid which has not yet been obtained in pure form. This last alkaloid has, however, been shown to be different from glycinebetaine, by virtue of its Chromatographie behaviour.
