Summary
The small divergence and the high monochromaticity of laser light and the resulting possibility of concentrating a very high light intensity at the focal point of a lens, are of decisive importance in laser therapy.
By selecting suitable irradiation parameters, blood and lymph vessels can be sealed by local exposure to Nd:YAG laser light. All the prerequisites for using the Nd:YAG laser in gastroenterology for hemostasis and the treatment of tumors are met.
