Abstract
Recalcitrant or recurrent frontal sinus disease after sinus surgery may be due to improper patient selection as well as local and systemic causes. Surgery should be avoided when the chief complaint is sinus headache or sinus pain. Common local sources of failure include incomplete surgical dissection, the lateralized middle turbinate, neo-osteogenesis, and poor postoperative care. When there is continued frontal sinus disease despite optimal surgery and meticulous postoperative care, systemic factors must be assessed and considered in order to devise a comprehensive and effective management plan.
