Summary

Quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) are two processes that are widely used in manufacturing and cutting-edge research. Unfortunately, they are often absent or insufficient in hair transplant practice. However, QC and QA should be an integral part of the process. QC and QA are the only way to objectively evaluate the quality of our work; they clarify the vague and qualitative impressions that we regularly have and, most importantly, they allow us to advance—to choose the best techniques and adapt them to achieve the best procedural outcomes. If this chapter can help the hair restoration surgery (HRS) community progress along the path of high-quality research, then the time that it took to write it is well justified.
