Abstract

Microsurgery for unruptured aneurysms is being increasingly challenged by technological advances in endovascular neurosurgery. In order to understand the indications for surgical treatment of an unruptured aneurysm, a thorough appreciation of the strengths and weaknesses of both techniques is required. This chapter introduces the key concepts in the workup of a patient with an unruptured intracranial aneurysm, and focuses on treatment considerations from a microsurgical perspective.
