Palliation in homeopathy has 2 different meanings: On the one hand the treatment of single symptoms without improvement of the whole illness which is not desired, on the other hand the symptom relief in incurable cases. The use of the term at Hahnemann’s times and today is described on the basis of quotations. 3 short case reports show different kinds of palliation.
