Intraosseous Lipoma of the Lateral Cuneiform

Introduction

Intraosseous lipoma is a rare benign neoplasm that is most commonly seen at the lower limb with the heel bone being the most commonly involved bone. It may be symptomatic and the list of differential diagnoses ranges from benign to malignant neoplastic conditions, avascular necrosis, as well as, degenerative articular changes. Such a wide range of differential diagnoses makes proper radiological evaluation of paramount importance in delineating intraosseous lipoma in order to prevent unnecessary biopsies or surgery. We present the radiological manifestations of an intraosseous lipoma in the lateral cuneiform bone, discussdifferential diagnoses as well as potential treatment options.
