ZUSAMMENFASSUNG
Alternierende Phasen des Nahrungsüberangebots und des Hungerns waren bei den Frühmenschen vermutlich der Regelfall. Es scheint naheliegend, dass der menschliche Körper evolutionsbedingt Phasen des Fastens sehr gut bewältigen kann und sich die genetische Ausstattung, der Körpermetabolismus und die Ernährungsphysiologie gut darauf eingestellt haben. Im Gegensatz dazu ist anzunehmen, dass die mehrmals tägliche, regelmäßige Nahrungszufuhr mit Snacks, Zwischenmahlzeiten und energiehaltigen Getränken, die Hormon- und Stoffwechselsysteme überfordert. Die günstigen metabolischen Wirkungen des Fastens sind in physiologischen Arbeiten beschrieben. Der Artikel gibt einen Überblick zu den verschiedenen Formen des Fastens und dessen mögliche Effekte.
Abstract
Alternating phases of the oversupply of food and starvation were probably the norm in early humans. Apparently, the human body can cope with phases of fasting due to evolution, whereby the genetic make-up, body metabolism and nutritional physiology are well prepared to this regard. In contrast, one can assume that the repeated daily and regular food intake with meals in-between as well as energy drinks, are a burden to the hormonal and metabolic systems of the body. The positive metabolic effects of fasting are described in physiological works. This article specifically gives an overview of the various forms of fasting and its possible effects.
