Abstract

Psoriasis vulgaris is a common chronic inflammatory skin disease. Up to one third of these patients also suffer from psoriasisarthritis with painful inflammations of the joints. This may lead to a destruction of the involved joints without therapy. Despite the availability of several new systemic therapies, the management of severe psoriasis in pregnancy still is challenging. We report the case of a 32-year-old pregnant woman with a severe psoriasis vulgaris with arthritis since childhood. Under combined local-, ultraviolet and systemic therapy with certolizumab pegol we gained a stable disease control. Our patient gave birth to a healthy daughter in the fortieth week of pregnancy.
