Eine enge Zusammenarbeit zwischen Besitzer und Tierarzt ist beim Management des Diabetes mellitus unerlässlich. Sowohl die Überwachungsmethode als auch die Frequenz der Kontrollen sollten den zeitlichen und finanziellen Möglichkeiten des Besitzers sowie dem Temperament der Katze oder des Hundes angepasst werden.
