Introduction
Segond fracture is one of the most commonly encountered avulsion fractures of the knee joint, which was classically defined as avulsion injury of the tibial insertion of the lateral capsular ligament at its middle third though recent studies have pointed towards a complex mechanism related to the anterior oblique band and iliotibial tract. It is originally believed to occur due to internal rotation along with varus force and considered as one of the commonly involved structures that constitute postero-lateral corner injury.
