Summary

Die ärztliche Anwendung komplementärmedizinischerMethoden hat eine lange Tradition in Deutschland. Eine allgemein gültigeDefinition des Begriffes Komplementärmedizin(KM) existiert allerdings nicht. Die Zuordnungeines Therapieverfahrens zur KM beruhtauf sozio-kulturellen, berufspolitischen,gesundheitspolitischen, regionalen, juristischen,wissenschaftlichen und wirtschaftlichenFaktoren. Die Verfahren der KM eintdie Aktivierung der Selbstheilung und derganzheitlicheDenkansatz. Komplementärmedizinist ein wesentlicher Teil einer IntegrativenMedizin.DerArtikel gibt eine Übersicht über denaktuellenStatus der Komplementärmedizinimdeutschen Gesundheitssystem sowie inder Forschung und Patientenakzeptanz.
