Schmerzedukation – aktueller denn je

Zusammenfassung

Die immer komplexeren Patientenprobleme verlangen von Manualtherapeuten den bewussten Einsatz von Edukationsstrategien. Schmerzedukation zählt zu den wichtigsten edukativen Maßnahmen bei Patienten mit chronischen Schmerzen. Dabei zeigt eine individualisierte Edukation den größten Effekt.

Die wenigsten physiotherapeutischen Curricula berücksichtigen Schmerzedukation. Diese könnte jedoch einen wichtigen Schritt in Richtung weitere Professionalisierung der Physiotherapie darstellen. Sie ist ein Tool im Rahmen des Patientenmanagements und sollte ebenso wie andere Herangehensweisen auf metakognitiver Ebene reflektiert werden.

Abstract

Increasingly complex patient problems demand that manual therapists consciously use educational strategies. Pain education is counted among the most important educative measures in patients with chronic pain. Individual education shows the best effect.

Hardly any of the physiotherapeutic curricula incorporate pain education. This could, however, be considered as an important step towards further professionalisation of physiotherapy. It is one tool within patient management and should be reflected on a metacognitive level as with other approaches.
