Vererbung und Charakteristik der Pferdefarben: Weißzeichnungen
Weißzeichnungen beim Pferd sind Ausdruck fehlender Pigmentierung, die phänotypisch als einzelne weiße Haare, kleine weiße Flecken, moderate weiße Abzeichen über verschiedene Muster und Ausdehnungen bis hin zum fast weißen Pferd mit rosafarbener Haut in Erscheinung tritt. Pferde mit deutlichen Weißzeichnungen werden allgemein als Schecken bezeichnet.
