Emma C. Robbins et al. Heterogeneity in colorectal cancer incidence among people recommended 3-yearly surveillance post-polypectomy: a validation study

This retrospective study demonstrated that screening participants classified as having intermediate risk at baseline colonoscopy and recommended 3-yearly surveillance comprised two risk subgroups. Surveillance colonoscopy clearly benefited the higher-risk subgroup (those with incomplete colonoscopies, poor bowel preparation, adenomas ≥ 20 mm or with high-grade dysplasia, or proximal polyps), whereas it was unclear whether the lower-risk subgroup required or benefited from surveillance.
