Zusammenfassung

Einleitung Mediale Darstellungen der Pädophilie ändern sich. Im Kontext von therapeutischen und Selbsthilfeangeboten entstehen seit Ende der 2000er-Jahre Repräsentationen kontrollierter Sexualität, die sich von Verwerfungen als „Monster“ und als „Bandenkrimineller“ unterscheiden.

Forschungsziele Der Beitrag untersucht die Struktur und rekonstruiert die Bedingungen und Effekte des medialen Diskurses. Er fragt erstens nach Rhetoriken, die eine andere Repräsentation möglich erscheinen lassen. Zweitens diskutiert er, wie vor dem Hintergrund der historischen Abwertungen und Verwerfungen ein pädophiles Subjekt medial neu bzw. anders konstituiert werden kann.

Methoden Untersuchungsgegenstand sind 33 Print- und audio(-visuelle) Reportagen, die pädophile Teilnehmende an therapeutischen und/oder Selbsthilfeangeboten porträtieren. Diese werden innerhalb der Phänomenstruktur der Grounded Theory analysiert.

Ergebnisse In den medialen Repräsentationen wird Pädophilie ursächlich als Gefahr entworfen und zugleich negiert: Das Potential des sexuellen Kindesmissbrauchs wird ausgewiesen, erscheint aber als nicht zwingende Folge der sexuellen Disposition. Intervenierende Bedingung dafür ist die medizinische Rahmung als überzeitliche, unveränderbare Sexualität, mit der eine prekäre Patho-Normalisierung ebenso wie die Möglichkeit der Kontrolle auf der Handlungsebene einhergeht. Die Problemlösung der sexuellen Kontrolle wird in den Reportagen anhand von drei Subjektpositionen nachgezeichnet: der leidenden Seele auf dem Weg zur Therapie, dem vom eigenen Gewissen verfolgten Empathiker und dem herausgeforderten, sich aber aufopfernden Helden. Gesellschaftlich ergibt sich aus Mitgefühl und rationaler Abwägung eine Aufforderung zur Entstigmatisierung.

Schlussfolgerung Der Beitrag rekonstruiert eine Gegen-Emotionalisierung und technokratische Kontrollversprechen als Entstehungsbedingungen eines neuen legitimen pädophilen Subjekts. Dieses konstituiert ein Gegenbild zu vorherigen Darstellungen, unternimmt eine teilweise Normalisierung und deutet in Teilen Idealisierungen des Pädophilen als Kindern besonders zugewandtem Subjekt an.

Abstract

Introduction Media representations of pedophilia are changing. Representations of sexual control that differ from condemnation as ‘monster’ or ‘gang criminal’ have been emerging in the context of therapy/self-help since the end of the 2000 s.

Objectives The article analyses the structure of this media discourse and reconstructs its conditions and effects. It looks into the rhetorics that enable divergent representation and discusses how a pedophile subject can be newly or differently constituted in the wake of the historic depreciation and condemnation of such subjects.

Methods 33 print and audio(-visual) reports portraying participants in therapy or self-help are analysed. They are analysed within the ‘phenomenon structure’ framework of the Grounded Theory Methodology.

Results The media representations conceptualize the pedophile causally as a danger and at the same time negate this: The potential for child sexual abuse is identified, but not necessarily seen as an inevitable consequence of the pedophile sexual disposition. The intervening condition for this is the medical framework of immutable sexuality, which goes hand in hand with a precarious patho-normalization as well as with the option of control as regards action. The problem-solving qualities of sexual control are displayed via three subject positions: the suffering soul on their way to therapy, the empathic one haunted by their own conscience and the challenged, but self-sacrificing hero. Consequently, societal de-stigmatization is demanded by means of the combination of empathy and rational planning for child protection.

Conclusion The article analyses an emotionalization as well as technocratic promises of control as conditions for a new legitimate pedophile subject position. This constitutes a counter-image to historic depictions, enables a partial normalization, and hints in part at an idealization of the pedophile as a child-caring subject.
