Hymenal Tag in a Newborn

Case presentation
We report on a 7-day-old female newborn at term, with no associated pathology, in whom a smooth pinkish formation was observed in the dorsal part of the hymen, protruding between the labia minora [Fig. 1]. Physical examination suggested a hymenal tag, a polypoid hymenal lesion secondary to maternal estrogen exposure that tends to resolve spontaneously in the first months of life, and thus excluded the initial need for complementary tests. As expected, the excrescence progressively disappeared during the first months of life [Fig. 2].
