Background

Fundus flavimaculatus (FFM) is a subgroup of flecked retina syndrome, characterized by yellowish-white fishtail-like flecks of lipofuscin-like material, scattered diffusely throughout the fundus [1], [2]. A rare complication of FFM associated with severe vision loss is choroidal neovascularization (CNV) [3]. So far, various therapies, mainly based on photodynamic therapy (PDT), have been applied to treat this threatening condition. However, only short-term results have been published presenting varying visual outcomes [4], [5]. In this case report, the successful long-term outcome of intravitreal administration of ranibizumab (Lucentis) in a middle-aged male is described.
