Emanuele Rondonotti et al. Efficacy of a computer-aided detection system in a fecal immunochemical test-based organized colorectal cancer screening program: a randomized controlled trial (AIFIT study)

Computer-aided detection (CADe) of polyps has been shown to increase adenoma detection rate (ADR); however, this has not been specifically demonstrated in a patient population with positive fecal immunochemical test (FIT +). This randomized controlled trial in 800 FIT + patients showed that CADe increased absolute ADR by 8.3 percentage points (53.6 % vs. 45.3 %) over high definition white-light endoscopy. This effect was found to be independent of endoscopist baseline ADR.
