Wie geht es der Pflege?

Zusammenfassung

Insgesamt waren im Jahr 2020 in Deutschland 1,7 Mio. Pflegekräfte sowohl in der Kranken- als auch in der Altenpflege beschäftigt. Obwohl wir diese quantitativen Merkmale des Arbeitsmarktes Pflege und deren Dynamik recht gut kennen, liegen bis jetzt nur wenige Erkenntnisse darüber vor, wie die Pflegekräfte selbst ihre Situation, insbesondere in Bezug auf die arbeitsplatzspezifische Gesundheit, einschätzen. Im Rahmen des Projektes POLKA werden bewegungsbezogene Gesundheitsförderungsprogramme für Pflegekräfte in der stationären Altenpflege entwickelt und implementiert. Als Planungsgrundlage wurde dazu eine Querschnittuntersuchung an 793 Mitarbeiter*innen in 16 Pflegeeinrichtungen durchgeführt. Die Ergebnisse und Befunde bestätigen nur teilweise die in der massenmedialen Kommunikation verbreiteten Annahmen zur Pflegebranche. So unterstützen sowohl die Strukturmerkmale der Stichprobe als auch die erhobenen Einstellungen unserer Stichprobe nicht komplett die Einschätzung der Pflege als Pflegefall. Die Daten wurden genutzt, um im POLKA-Projekt ein pflegespezifisches Portfolio von Interventionen zu entwickeln und zu implementieren.

ABSTRACT

A total of 1.7 million caregivers were employed in both nursing and geriatric care in Germany in 2020. Although we know these quantitative characteristics of the nursing labour market and its dynamics quite well, there is so far a knowledge gap about how the nursing staff themselves assess their situation, especially with regard to job-specific health. In the POLKA project, exercise-related health promotion programs for caregivers in inpatient geriatric care were developed and implemented. A cross-sectional survey of 793 employees in 16 care facilities was conducted in order to provide a basis for planning. However, the results and findings only partially confirm the assumptions about the care sectors that are widespread in mass media communication. For example, both the structural characteristics of the sample and the attitudes of those surveyed in our study do not completely support the assessment of nursing as a caregiving profession. The data was used in developing and implementing a caregiving-specific portfolio of interventions in the POLKA project.
