[2]. Meist sind diese Einsätze komplex, zeitaufwendig und emotional anspruchsvoll. Dieser Beitrag soll die Kernpunkte und Besonderheiten palliativmedizinischer Herangehensweisen in der präklinischen Notfallmedizin praxisnah erläutern, für das Verstehen von palliativmedizinischen Notfallsituationen sensibilisieren und Hemmschwellen reduzieren.
Abstract
Emergency physicians care for palliative patients in up to every tenth mission, which are complex, time-consuming, and emotionally demanding. This education article explains key points of palliative medical approaches in preclinical emergency medicine, raises awareness for understanding palliative medical emergency situations, and reduces barriers. It addresses physical, psychological, social, spiritual, ethical, legal dimensions and symptom control of pain, dyspnea, nausea, anxiety, agitation, convulsion, acute bleeding, and end-of-life care. Basic knowledge of palliative care is essential for all emergency doctors to ensure adequate care. This includes understanding local palliative care structures, treatment options for symptom control, and limits of outpatient care. Shared decision-making involving patients and families should be prioritized even under time pressure by means of empathetic and honest communication.
