Jorge Vargas-Madrigal et al. Dedicated cautery-enhanced tubular self-expandable metal stent for endoscopic ultrasound-guided hepaticogastrostomy: feasibility study

EUS-guided hepaticogastrostomy is an alternative modality for biliary drainage in patients with biliary obstruction and failure of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). The authors assessed the feasibility and safety of a newly developed, cautery-enhanced tubular self-expandable metal stent (SEMS) in 20 patients in a prospective multicenter study. Technical and clinical success rates were 100% and no severe adverse events were reported. Additional prospective studies are required to confirm these findings in larger patient populations and settings.
