Peri- und postnatale Depression und ihre Behandlungsmöglichkeiten
Peri- and postnatal depression and its treatment options
ABSTRACT
During pregnancy and postpartum in about one in ten women depressive episodes occur, making it one of the most common peri- and postpartum conditions. This overview presents the clinical incidence of depression related to pregnancy. The currently available treatment options for peri- and postnatal depression are introduced and clinically evaluated. Most clinical experience exists in drug therapy and psychotherapeutic treatment. Brain stimulation methods are less accessible, but they are particularly suitable with regard to the protection of the fetus. Electroconvulsive therapy is only performed in an inpatient setting. Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation, on the other hand, is easily suitable for outpatient care and, considering the specific risks, represents a well-tolerated and effective treatment option.
