Skabies: Eine Übersicht

Skabies, auch als Krätze bekannt, ist eine parasitäre Hauterkrankung, die durch den Befall mit der Krätzmilbe (Sarcoptes scabiei var. hominis) verursacht wird. Sie steht auf der Liste der „Neglected Tropical Diseases“ der Weltgesundheitsorganisation. Die Erkrankung ist weltweit verbreitet, betrifft jedoch vor allem Bevölkerungsgruppen, die unter engen Lebensverhältnissen und in Gemeinschaftseinrichtungen leben [1]. Obwohl Skabies in Industrieländern seltener geworden ist, bleibt sie in vielen Regionen der Welt ein relevantes Gesundheitsproblem. Schätzungen zufolge sind weltweit im Jahr 2021 ca. 622 Millionen Fälle von Skabies aufgetreten [1] [2].
