Abstract
Central venous access devices have become common in standard medical practice. Post-procedure
care of such catheters is vital in preventing complications, and recognition of complications
when they occur is essential to prevent severe clinical sequelae. The following article
outlines the appropriate post-procedural care of tunneled, nontunneled, and implanted
devices, and reviews procedures that may decrease the risk of post-procedural complications.
