Total Synthesis of (±)-1,3,4,5-Tetragalloylapiitol

Abstract

Starting from citraconic anhydride, the first total synthesis of (±)-1,3,4,5-tetragalloylapiitol has been demonstrated via a stepwise route involving generation of an apiitol derivative followed by benzoylation.
